Two Big Welcomes: Heather & Irina!

Big things are happening behind the scenes at FROM, and it’s time to introduce the newest faces helping make it all possible. Please join us in welcoming Heather Dimmick as our new Volunteer Coordinator and Irina Nadrau as our new Administrative Assistant. Both bring fresh energy, heart, and dedication to our team, and we couldn’t be more excited to see the ways they’ll help us serve our neighbors even better….

Heather Dimmick – Volunteer Coordinator

“Born and raised in Lowell, Heather has a heart for this community. She grew up volunteering at FROM and is thrilled to return and serve in a professional capacity. Heather brings experience from roles as an elementary teacher, education specialist, and, most recently, as a shelter support specialist at a women’s shelter. When she’s not at work, you can find her at the park, camping, or anywhere there’s water. In the winter, she prefers to hibernate with a few favorite hobbies—reading, crafting, watching TV shows, and doing puzzles.”

Irina Nadrau – Administrative Assistant

“I am a dedicated and focused professional who brings relevant experience, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude to everything I do. I pick up new environments, processes, and teams quickly, and I take pride in contributing effectively from day one.

I applied to FROM because the organization’s values, mission, and collaborative spirit resonate deeply with my own. I am drawn to work that makes a real difference in people’s lives, and I am at my best when I know my efforts are having a positive impact on others, whether that means providing excellent customer service, supporting my colleagues, or helping an organization move closer to its goals.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me exploring somewhere new, unwinding at the beach, or soaking up time along the shores of Lake Michigan. I’m an avid member of a book club, and I cherish creating meaningful memories with family and friends. Lifelong learning, strong relationships, and a healthy balance between my professional and personal life are all things I hold close.”

Will vs. Living Trust: Which Do I Need?

“Do I need a will, or should I have a trust?” Many people ask this question when planning for the future.

 

Both wills and living trusts are effective tools to provide for the future needs of your family. Both can also be used to support Flat River Outreach Ministries and the other causes close to your heart.

 

A will is your written instructions to the probate court about who should receive your assets after your lifetime and who should oversee the process. A will may also designate a guardian for minor children or provisions for family members with special needs. A will takes effect at the time you go to be with the Lord, so you can change it at any time during your lifetime. Almost everyone should have a will, regardless of what they own.

 

A living trust, on the other hand, is a way of holding your assets while you are still alive. Like a will, it provides future instructions for the distribution of your assets, but it may also protect your family from delays and extra costs by avoiding probate altogether. You can name yourself or another person to manage trust assets during your lifetime.

 

Which of these do you need? It’s not necessarily an either/or. You certainly need a will, and you might need a trust, as well. Your trusted professional advisors can assess your needs based on your goals, where you live, and the complexity of what you own.
