About Us

Flat River Outreach Ministries is a cooperative ministry of the churches of the greater Lowell area, volunteer organized and staffed, committed to providing emergency financial, food, and clothing assistance to people experiencing times of hardship. It was formed in 1999 by members of thirteen local churches, who banded together to address basic living needs of the community.

The economic model is simple but effective. A Thrift Shop forms the economic backbone of the organization, offering quality used clothing, furniture and household goods at an extremely discounted rate. The cash generated by the Thrift Shop in turn finances the Financial Assistance operation, which offers short-term cash support for needs such as rent and fuel. Donations of food and money are used to stock the Food Pantry. All services are organized and provided by a loyal team of volunteers.
